Patch was also a passionate educator and was passionate about helping those who couldn’t necessarily afford to learn about science and technology. He created a series of lectures and seminars, which were attended by more than one thousand people in the New England area. In his lectures and seminars, he discussed topics such as the laws of electricity and the study of mechanics.
Patch also had a great interest and understanding of engineering, chemistry and mathematics. He put his knowledge to use after his retirement by building private laboratories in Pennsylvania, where he conducted experiments and invented diverse machines and mechanisms. For example, he created a type of hoisting machine, a brick-building machine and a machine for producing ice.
Even after retiring, Patch was devoted to continuing to help humanity. He dedicated much of his time to working on a machine he developed that could generate a source of inexpensive energy to be used by everyone. Unfortunately, his machine was never released to the public.
